Perlite im Garten: Boden verbessern + Chili, Physalis & Tamarillo Update, Werkzeuge für die Ewigkeit

In this video, I'm taking you back to my garden. I'm working through my compost and improving the soil with perlite, which many people mistake for "styrofoam" because of its appearance. I'll show you why I use it in the garden and what effect it can have on soil structure. There's also a small update on my seedlings: My chili peppers, physalis, tamarillos, and velvet peaches have already sprouted. I'll also show you how to propagate sweet potato cuttings and which garden tools I'm currently using. Self-sufficiency can be so wonderful! In recent years, awareness of healthy eating and sustainability has increased. More and more people in Germany are choosing to grow their own vegetables and use organic seeds. This article highlights the various advantages associated with growing your own plants and using high-quality seeds. 1. Freshness and Flavor One of the most obvious advantages of growing your own vegetables is freshness. Homegrown vegetables are usually consumed directly after harvesting, allowing them to optimally develop their nutrients and flavor. Many people report that homegrown vegetables are much more flavorful than those available in supermarkets. In today's world, where many foods have traveled long distances, this is a significant advantage. 2. Control over cultivation methods Another advantage of growing your own food is the control you have over cultivation methods. Unlike with conventional products, home gardeners can decide for themselves which fertilizers and pesticides to use when caring for their plants. Using organic seeds also ensures that the plants have been cultivated without chemical-synthetic agents. This not only contributes to a healthier diet but also to a lower level of pollution in the environment. 3. Environmental friendliness Growing your own vegetables also promotes a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. By avoiding imported products, CO2 emissions generated by transport and storage are reduced. Furthermore, growing your own food in your garden can promote biodiversity, as it allows you to cultivate diverse plant species and varieties that may have been lost in conventional agriculture. 4. Cost savings Although the initial investment in seeds, soil, and gardening tools may seem higher, the long-term benefits can be considerable. Growing your own food can be more cost-effective in the long run, especially considering how expensive fresh, biodynamic vegetables often are in stores. With proper planning and care, the garden can provide a continuous harvest throughout the months, thus reducing monthly food expenses. 5. Promoting Health Growing your own vegetables also has positive effects on health. Working in the garden promotes physical activity and can contribute to improved emotional well-being. Gardening reduces stress and helps strengthen the immune system, as it involves regular outdoor time. Furthermore, planting and harvesting vegetables has a positive influence on eating habits, as people are more inclined to consume homegrown, healthy food. 6. Education and Knowledge Transfer Last but not least, growing your own vegetables offers an excellent opportunity to teach children and young people about food production and sustainable practices. It is a valuable experience that helps develop a better understanding of food, its origins, and the importance of a sustainable lifestyle.
