Prof. Dr. Carmen Scheibenbogen: "ME/CFS – Treatment Options and Clinical Trials" Carmen Scheibenbogen is a professor at the Institute of Medical Immunology at Charité Berlin and head of the Charité Fatigue Center. Content: This presentation addresses therapies and clinical trials for ME/CFS. It presents the symptom complex and the precarious state of care. A central element in disease management is pacing. Treatment options include symptomatic treatment, nutritional supplements, and off-label therapies. Mechanisms and triggers of ME/CFS include impaired mitochondrial function, disruption of energy metabolism, reactivation of EBV and herpes viruses, autonomic dysfunction, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Current studies from the National Clinical Trials Group (NKSG) are discussed, along with the CFS_CARE care concept. The presentation highlights the need for interdisciplinary care centers, continuing education, and funding for therapeutic research. ------------ Fatigatio e.V. - We support people with ME/CFS!
