Joaquín Rodrigo - "En los trigales" (from the C.D "Serenata")

En los Trigales was written in 1938 and premiered by the Spanish guitarist Regino Sainz de la Maza in Bilbao. The piece was then incorporated into a suite in three movements, which later expanded to five movements. According to Rodrigo (1901-1999), “This piece is part of a kind of Imaginary Suite called Por los campos de España (Spanish Landscapes). It is one of my most famous guitar works. En los Trigales (In the Wheat Fields) portrays Old Castile. The region of Castile reaches, its inhabitants say, to the ends of the earth, and is fond of lively music. Contrasting with the virile dance of the opening, a sort of recitative accompanied by the far-off sound of bells follows, like the restorative pause taken after the hard work the precedes harvest time.” For more information on the composer : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joaqu%C...
