“Baihuaidi en el Corazón del Yasuní / Baihuaidi Yasuni mimo nee Gonge”.

In order to give a voice to those who inhabit the most vulnerable corners of the Amazon, the Ministry of Government presented the book “Baihuaidi in the Heart of Yasuní / Baihuaidi Yasuni mimo nee Gonge” this Tuesday, June 23, at the University of Tourism Specialties of Ecuador (UDET). The event, held at 10:00 a.m. in the Pico y Espada Auditorium of the institution, not only addressed the rulings of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights regarding the case of the Tagaeri and Taromenane peoples, but also sought to build a bridge of empathy and science in the face of the fragility of families living in voluntary isolation. With technical analysis from the Ecuadorian Populorum Progressio Fund (FEPP) and the moving testimony of Isabel Baihua, a leader of the Waorani nation, the forum solidified into an urgent call to action in the face of the environmental and oil threats destroying the Intangible Zone (ZITT), fracturing the nomadic routes of the hidden communities. At the close of the day, the alliance between academia and the State laid the groundwork for future agreements that will safeguard the sacred right to health, identity, and dignity of the last invisible guardians of the Ecuadorian Amazon.
