How many people today are in unhappy relationships not because they love each other – but because they're afraid of bills, debt, and an empty bank account? This is one of the most uncomfortable topics I discuss on my channel. Because over the years of working with couples after infidelity, I've noticed something few people talk about: many people don't stay in relationships out of love. They stay out of fear. Of loneliness, of family judgment, but above all – of money. "I can't cope on my own." "I can't support the kids." "He'll take everything." These fears aren't silly. But very often, they're much bigger in our heads than in reality. When I ask during coaching sessions: "Do you know exactly how much the alimony will be?" What's the division of assets? How much do you have in savings?" – there's silence. People are willing to spend a dozen years in an unhappy relationship, but they're not willing to take the time to sit down with a piece of paper and a calculator and look at the facts. In this episode, I also talk about something rarely discussed: that this isn't just a women's problem. I have sessions with responsible men who have endured the pressure of supporting an entire household for years and fear that after a breakup, they'll be left destitute. This model harms both parties. Because if, for 10, 15, or 20 years, one person was pursuing a career while the other was organizing the household, driving the kids, passing up promotions, and sleeping through the night, both were working. Only one was getting paid.
