Now it’s time to empower users to discover and explore the data all on their own. There is no better way to accomplish that goal than through SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). How do we make the dimensional model more user friendly? How can we centralize logic? How can I help my users drilldown and find the answers to business questions? All of these can be answered by building an SSAS cube or tabular model on top of your warehouse. We will explore the pros and cons of both SSAS Multidimensional and Tabular, discuss design patterns for each and even load some data to show how they both work. After this session you will be able to build a basic cube and tabular model that will give your users access to all the information they need with the click of a button right inside Excel.
