Sony ICF 2001 Video #8 - Got It! The Radio is Working Again!

After all the hand wringing and troubleshooting effort, the problem is a simple lack of connectivity between the two AA batteries and the radio. I install a bypass circuit to go around the unreliable battery contacts and establish a permanent connection into the radio. All that is left now is reassembly.
