What Is Free Will Free From? | Kenneth Dorter | TEDxGuelphU
In this in-depth philosophical talk, Kenneth Dorter explains the importance of the classic free will vs. determinism debate. Citing a variety of philosophical sources , he brings forth a fresh and compelling argument for dealing with this debate. Dr. Kenneth Dorter received his BA from Queens College of the City University of New York, and his MA (on Descartes) and PhD (on Plato) from Pennsylvania State University. Since 1966, he has been a member of the Philosophy Department at the University of Guelph, where he has taught courses primarily in the history of philosophy, both western and eastern, as well as courses on ethics, metaphysics, philosophy of art, and philosophy of music (in the Music Department). He has published about 55 articles and chapters on these subjects, and three books on Plato. In the Summer of 2014 he completed a book on East-West comparative philosophy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
