MARÍA ROSTWOROWSKI : El Legado de la etnohistoria

One hundred years ago, Peru witnessed the birth of one of the most outstanding historians of the 20th century: María Rostworowski. The Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco pays a well-deserved tribute to the renowned historian and researcher María Rostworowski, who made decisive contributions to the understanding of the Inca Empire and Andean cultures. Her contributions throughout her career teach us that with perseverance and love for what one does, it is possible to leave a lasting mark. She was a self-taught intellectual who participated as an external student at the National University of San Marcos, where she met her two great mentors: John Murra, an American anthropologist who introduced her to the field of ethnohistory, and the historian Raúl Porras Barrenechea.
