Skye Boat Song

This traditional Scottish piece dates back to the 18th century Jacobite uprising and the Battle of Culloden. Some of the lyrics are "Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing. Onward! the sailors cry. Carry the lad who's born to be king / Over the sea to Skye." It chronicles the flight of Bonnie Prince Charlie after the battle. Played here on a Celtic harp (Clarsach model) made by Pilgrim Harps. Arrangement by Kim Robertson.
