The interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS is still traveling through our solar system! And new measurements with the James Webb Space Telescope reveal something incredible: its chemical composition differs drastically from comets in our solar system. The extremely high deuterium ratio and unusual carbon isotopes, in particular, suggest that 3I/ATLAS may have originated in a very cold, ancient, and metal-poor region of the galaxy.
