The Hunter's Drift

The Hunter's Drift is a Scottish Country Dance devised by Remco Knooihuizen in 2012. It is a 3 couple dance in a 4 couple set. A 32 bar reel. This dances has a very unusual progression pattern for a 3C/4C (it does work). The pattern is very common in 3C/3C dances though. When we danced this in Santa Barbara we found there was not enough movement for the first 8 bars. We either had to take 4 bars to do the initial cast (which felt very slow), or we threw in two bars of setting at the very beginning. I recommend the setting. The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the figures more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set. https://www.upadouble.info/ For information on linking to this animation see: https://upadouble.info/about.php#linking
