¿ES LA LENGUA DE SIGNOS UNIVERSAL?👇👇👇

If I got €1 for every time someone asked me if Sign Language is Universal... I'd be rich! 🤑🤣 - just kidding. But it's true that many hearing friends ask me if Sign Language is spoken the same way in every country, and they're surprised when I tell them NO. Even within the same country, there can be differences from one region to another! In each country, even region, sign language adapts to linguistic changes and evolves over time. Just like spoken language, it has accents and different ways of speaking and expressing things. In short, Sign Language IS NOT UNIVERSAL. It's dynamic, complex, creative, and productive. Like any other natural language, and here's proof. Here's a video with my colleague. She is deaf, from the UK, and therefore speaks British Sign Language (BSL). Notice the differences! Have you noticed that BSL uses both hands to spell (fingerspelling)? Don't forget to share to spread this information and tell me, what sign language do you speak? 👇💬 #DeafInfo #LSE #SpanishSignLanguage #DeafCommunity #LSETutorial #accessibility #inclusion #communication #SignLanguage #IUseLSE #deaf #DeafAwareness #DeafCommunity #SignLanguageIsNotUniversal #BSL #BritishSignLanguage
