Medan, MISTAR.ID Less than 24 hours after a viral video surfaced on social media, two men who assaulted a married couple in the Pasar VII Tembung Rail Tunnel, Medan, were finally arrested by the Medan Police's Mobile Brigade Unit. The two suspects are Zulyarham Lubis, 46, and Julpikar Lubis, 37. Both are brothers who work as street vendors (pak ogah) in the tunnel area. The arrests were made after a video of the assault circulated widely on social media. The woman who was assaulted in the incident was known to be pregnant. The Mobile Brigade Unit team, led by First Inspector Ramadhani Bimo Setiadi, arrested the two at their respective homes on Jalan Bersama, Gang Bantan. Police also confiscated evidence including an air gun, the clothing worn during the incident, and the suspects' cell phones. Based on initial investigations, the incident began when Manongap Purba and his wife were passing in front of the Pasar VII Tembung Rail Tunnel when a brawl broke out nearby. At that time, the two suspects, who were directing traffic, asked the couple to proceed because they were obstructing traffic. However, Manongap's pregnant wife admitted she was afraid to pass because the situation was still unstable. An argument ensued. When Manongap's wife took out her cell phone, Julpikar said he was worried about being recorded and the video being shared. He then kicked her, hitting her in the stomach. Meanwhile, Zulyarham allegedly hit Manongap repeatedly, particularly in the face. Shortly afterward, one of the suspects retrieved an air gun from his workshop and pointed it at the couple to scare them into leaving the scene. The Head of the Medan Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Adrian Risky Lubis, stated that Manongap had reported the incident to the police, and the two suspects are currently undergoing intensive questioning. Meanwhile, Manongap's wife underwent a prenatal examination at Pirngadi Regional Hospital in Medan. The police also plan to provide assistance during the case process.
