Geothermal drilling - this is how it’s done. Heizungsmacher shows in this video step by step how a geothermal drilling proceeds. In the first step, a huge drilling machine is placed on the site of the builder. Using a drill rig with a diamond drill head attached to the end, a water/air mixture is pumped 220 metres into the ground via a double pipe string. In the process, soil, rock and bedrock are conveyed to the surface through the inner casing of the drill pipe and pumped out. As soon as the final depth is reached, the drill pipe is pulled out again and instead a so-called pipe bundle is inserted into the drilled hole. After the installation of the geothermal heat pump, this pipe bundle transports the heat from the ground to the heat pump.
