During a presentation at the Regional Museum in Reeuwijk, the four coalition parties CDA, VVD, SGP, and BBR unveiled their plans for the coming years. They adopt the motto "Together. Doing.", with the addition: "Clear choices, strong villages." Robin Kersbergen (VVD) and Jan Leendert van den Heuvel (SGP) return to the municipal executive as aldermen, Jorden van der Haas (CDA) takes the place of Dirk-Jan Knol, who has moved to Waddinxveen, and Remco Tijssen (BB) replaces Elly de Vries (D66). A hand was also explicitly extended to the opposition. For, the four state in their agreement: “There are subjects that lend themselves well to being explored in advance with the entire council. In doing so, we want to work with initial proposals. In the coming period, we will enter into discussions on the subjects that lend themselves to this.” The key priorities include improving communication with residents, building homes, managing the municipality's debt position, and participation. High-rise construction is being investigated, and the rules regarding aesthetics must be simplified. Furthermore, the municipality wants to introduce an active land policy. The four report that sometimes unpleasant choices will have to be made with which not everyone agrees. But that is not a problem, they say: “The only thing that matters in those situations is that we continue to form a democratic society together. As a coalition, we intend to make every effort to achieve this in the coming years.” Special attention is given to the development of the Vromade, which is considered “one of the most important (financial) projects in our municipality in decades.” The coalition states it guarantees that the plans remain financially on track, “without losing sight of the sometimes divergent interests.”
