The French entrusted the design to the renowned Italian design studio Bertone. And they were right – the car turned out very unique and elegant. Behind the hatchback's standard fifth door is a second window. The idea is as simple as all ingenious things: with the trunk open, neither cold, rain, nor snow gets into the cabin. And, naturally, the window can be rolled up. Over its 11 years of production, the Citroën XM was equipped with a wide variety of engines, including V6s. This car has a mid-range 2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, with a later version producing 147 hp. But the Citroën's main feature is the pump and reservoir of its proprietary hydraulic system. Everything is tied to it, including the power steering and even the brakes. There's no traditional brake booster. But the main reason this ingenious design was created back in the 1950s is the proprietary hydropneumatic suspension with adjustable ride height.
