Rare 1941 film: Pre-Computer Calculating & Accounting Machines & IBM 416 punch card tabulator of WW2

A partially restored original film showing electrical calculating, bookkeeping, accounting machines in operation. Burroughs Electric Duplex, Monroe, Friden Rotary Calculator, Underwood Elliott Fisher, and Comptometer brands all battled for market share with increasing capabilities of their machines. Includes very rare footage of the IBM 416 Punched Card Accounting Machine (08:52), of 1941, originally made in Italy. Produced only in limited numbers, the only known remaining machine today is in the IBM Hursley Museum (Hampshire, UK), a secure IBM research facility not open to the public. The museum obtained their 416 machine from IBM Oslo, Norway around 2017, and it is now part of the Hursley’s wartime computing machines exhibit not open to the public. The 416 is a numerical only machine (no text), and a variant of the IBM 405 machines produced in larger quantities. Overall this film is a fascinating look at a select group of vintage office machines of the 1940's era, and the IBM 416 specifically. This film runs 10 minutes, with sound and original narration.
