Thanks for your support! After buying this Chinese (MINIQ 710w bg-5156e mini drill press) on eBay and owning it for several months, I think it's time to make a review! I had wanted a drill press for years, I was so tired of wasting hours, HOURS, drilling holes in steel, with a hand drill, with with some far from the accuracy that I'd like. In this video I will review this drill press, and make sure to look at all sides fairly - including yours! This the first woodworking/metalworking tool review I've made on this channel, so if you think I did a good job and would be interested in seeing my opinions on other tools, please let me know! Overall, I'm very please with the drill press and am glad I bought it. I've saved hours so far, & don't know how many drill bits I've saved from breaking! I can drill dozens of holes in thick steel with a single drill bit, when in compared to a regular hand drill, the drill bit would've broken a long time ago. The drill press comes assembled out of the box, except for the base and handle, so it's not like you'll be wasting days assembling it like a CNC machine. Up and running in less than 5 minutes! My favorite thing about the drill press is that it's small, compact, and super lightweight since it's made mostly out of aluminum. This is important for me because I have to lift it out of my portable tool cart every time I want to use it. Regular drill presses are very heavy and would be a pain to lift every time. It also comes with a 13mm chuck that feels really solid. A big advantage of this drill press over others is the depth it can drill. Many mini drill presses can barely drill a hole 20mm deep. This one? 3X as much! I also like how to change the speed of the drill press: I don't have to mess with moving pulleys manually, which wastes a lot of time when in the middle of a project. The electronic speed control is very easy to use, but one downside is that the motor lacks torque at low speeds. You tend to have to turn the speed up to get more torque when the motor is bogged down. I also wish the motor wasn't as loud. But overall it's fine, I'm exaggerating. How much does it bend during hard drilling? Other than what I wrote in the video, on camera it looked to me like it bent less that usual. Might be only me, but the combination of a sharp drill bit and being more careless about the speed of the drill press because I was focused on the video. I measured the bending/weight with a scale, but it lowers unequally when under a lot of weight, A while back I had to drill 25mm wide ( I think) holes in thick steel, the drill press did manage to do it but it did bend more and did bog down, hole saws require A LOT of torque!
