Genesee Live #18: Attic Abasement

Though they have kept a somewhat low profile over the past few years, even in Rochester, indie rockers Attic Abasement have received quite a bit of attention in unexpectedly prominent places. What began as the home recording project of singer-songwriter Mike Rhienheimer has developed into a more mature endeavor, one that has surprisingly caught the attention of major internet and print publications such as Pitchfork (http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/448-my-...) and Interview magazine (http://www.interviewmagazine.com/musi.... Fortunately, for now, we've managed to get them above the radar; performing some cuts that span the past five years of their career that pays homage to the mellow, introspective, and often times sarcastic sounds of such bands like Modest Mouse, Bill Callahan, David Berman (of Silver Jews), Daniel Johnston, Real Estate and The National.
