When Sinwol Station is completed in 2027, the number of stations on the Bujeon-Masan double-track railway will increase from eight to nine. It will only take 10 minutes to Changwon and 20 minutes to Busan, which is expected to significantly improve the transportation environment in the Gimhae area and accelerate regional development. ◀ INT ▶ Gimhae Mayor Hong Tae-yong / "Through the development of the station area centered around Sinwol Station, the local economy will be revitalized and living conditions will be greatly improved, allowing this region to grow into a major city..." The Bujeon-Masan double-track railway was originally scheduled to open in 2020, but just before its opening, the collapse of the Nakdong River tunnel brought construction to a halt. It took over five years to repair the damaged section, and work is expected to be completed next month. The government and the ruling party are unanimously emphasizing the "Bu-Ul-Gyeong living area within 30 minutes," and calling for the early opening of the Bujeon-Masan double-track railway. If the final construction proceeds smoothly, it appears possible that the line will open in the first half of next year. However, the issue of building an evacuation passage within the tunnel is a stumbling block. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport maintains its position that the original plan would connect the two tunnels, the up-bound and down-bound, to create an evacuation passage. However, the construction company is reluctant, citing the soft ground as a prerequisite for additional construction.
