Laura Battilana (harpsichord) Fiori Musicali, magìa del clavicembalo
To quote the supplier 'Almost certainly a Neupert and nearly perfect pressing. This was published in mono, but that hardly matters when the instrument is recorded so closely'. This was confirmed by John Gavin in a comment: ' I’m sure the instrument is a Neupert Bach harpsichord'. Our restless age, greedy for technical and technical and scientific achievements is attracted, perhaps by counterbalance, by the fascination of ancient things and, in parallel with the race towards the future, turns to the past by highlighting especially in music, the language inspired by that which is perhaps eternal. The harpsichord of our times is no longer like those precious pieces of furniture used in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, decorated and painted with stories and country scenes or with allegorical phrases. Today, this ancient and fascinating lte instrument is similar in appearance to the grand piano, but unlike the piano where the sound is derived from the percussion of hammers on the strings, the clavicembaolo is an instrument string plucked by means of a feather beak, usually feather crow's feather. It generally has two keyboards, while the pedals can be from two to six and have the function of registers, all to increase the richness of timbres and intensity, achieving sonorous sound variations that the piano cannot give; nor can it replace the olavichord as it has been used until now, if not by distorting the style and language itself. The harpsichord has a musical heritage stretching from the 1500s to the mid of the 1700s and includes gigantic composers some of whom are present in this evocative review of harpsichord music with their most beautiful and well-known compositions.
