ASTOR: Claudio Constantini: bandoneón Daniel Hurtado: violín Gabriel Szternsztejn: guitarra eléctrica Nestor Ballesteros: piano Lila Horovitz: contrabajo www.astorquintet.com “Invierno Porteño,” written in 1969, is part of “Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas,” a work inspired by Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.” Also known as “Estaciones Porteñas,” they are a collection of four compositions written by Astor Piazzola meant to evoke each season of the year in Buenos Aires. Each season was originally conceived and treated as a separate composition instead of as a suite; over time they were released on different albums. However, Piazzolla performed them together from time to time. The pieces were composed for his quintet comprised of violin, piano, electric guitar, double bass, and bandoneon.
