Richards Bay residents get up close and personal with some of SA's naval ships.
Richards Bay residents in northern KwaZulu-Natal have the chance to get up close and personal with some of South Africa's most prestigious naval ships. The SANDF has granted the public access to navy ships stationed at the port of Richards Bay. The vessel tours have been the highlight of a week of activities in the build-up to Armed Forces Day, which is commemorated on 21 February to coincide with the commemoration of the sinking of the SS Mendi during World War One in 1917.
