Every year in January & February, when things get a little slow around the studio I like to try to come up with something that combines my first love of bookmaking with lasers so that others can easily enjoy making books. These new books are very versatile and customizable. You can use a number of different materials for the cover in whichever thickness you prefer (we like 1/8”) you can use a number of different materials for the bendable substrate on the spine and all manner of decorative paper or scrapbooking paper or book cloth to jazz it up on the inside or out. The interior pages are attached with elastic that goes through the spine so booklets are removable and replaceable. The covers are designed to accommodate A5 booklets that you can find easily on Amazon, but you can size the covers to any size you’d like because there’s no living hinge to worry about. Not that I don’t love me a good living hinge book! You can use lined booklets, unlined booklets, drawing paper that you tear and fold yourself, music, paper, watercolor paper or many other options.
