Leon Russell "Amos Burke" & "Honky Tonk Women" Live Homewood Session 1970

Leon Russell and his friends perform "Amos Burke" and "Honky Tonk Women" during a live set recorded on December 12th 1970 for a TV special. "Amos Burke" was written by Don Nix, whilst "Honky Tonk Women" was originally written, recorded and performed by The Rolling Stones. Leon Russell was an American musician and songwriter who was involved with many bestselling records during a long career. His music covered many genres including rock and roll, country, gospel, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, southern rock, blues rock, folk, surf and the Tulsa Sound. In December 1970 'Leon Russell and friends' recorded the 'Homewood Sessions' at the Vine Street Theatre in Hollywood, broadcast as an 'unscripted and unrehearsed' one-hour TV special on KCET TV in Los Angeles. The show was recorded in a little studio in the back part of the building of the Vine Street Theatre. The stars in attendance, many of whom performed during the show included Don Nix, Claudia Linnear, Kathi McDonald, Chuck Blackwell, Jim Horn, Furry Lewis, Don Preston, Carl Radle. I believe I can see Rita Coolidge there too. Furry Lewis is the same Furry that Joni Mitchell later wrote a song about ("Furry Sings the Blues"). #LeonRussell #RollingStones #RitaCoolidge
