Today I'm playing the classic song "Daisy Bell" by the British songwriter Harry Dacre (1857-1922). With a catchy melody and a charming text full of double-entendres, Daisy Bell was destined to be a classic of the music hall. It quickly became a hit after its publication in 1892, and was first recorded on wax cylinder as early as 1894. Half a century later, Daisy Bell would be the first song sung by a computer, when it was used as first demonstration of computerised speech synthesis by Bell Labs in 1961.
