Serial Killer, Oba Chandler
Serial Killer, Oba Chandler @21:30 Oba Chandler's former House, 10713 Dalton Ave Tampa Joann Steffey's House, 10718 Dalton Ave Mozelle Smith’s House, 10715 Dalton Ave both received a share of the reward by identifying Oba Chandler. @4:48 and @45:22 3073 N Rocky Point Dr. Tampa is where Sergeant Moore pulled out in front of the very Hotel room that Joan Rogers and her 2 daughters stayed, that hotel has been torn down. Two new Hotels have been built. The Westin Tampa Bay being the first to open. The Apartments across the street to this day still looks the same as the filming of this show. In 1989 that area was a beach front. There was a picture taken of that water front, taken by either Joan or one of her daughters. It is believed base on the sunset in that photo, the picture was taken from the front door of their hotel room and just before leaving to meet Oba Chandler. @5:15 The Causeway Boat Ramp, 8600 Campbell Causeway Access Road @1:45 the Pier is located by the Coast Guard Station, in Bayboro Harbor and Port of St. Petersburg. @20:10 19090 Bruce B. Downs Blvd Tampa is the place where Joan and her girls probably came across Oba Chandler, according to Sergeant Moore. The X on the Brochure map suggested that was the starting point where the directions were given by Oba Chandler. There is also a dot where there is a hotel, possibly the hotel they were looking for at the time. The X is believed to be either the McDonalds or the Mobile gas station. Oba Chandler appeared to steered the Rogers family away from the hotel they were looking for, guiding them to one that was closer to waters that was near his home. That Days Inn was out of the way, in 1989 the area was not built up like today. Chandler could walk to his backyard where he docked his boat; more importantly, he could come and go to the open waters from his backyard. @10:18 The Rogers’ family Farm at 3344 Ainsworth Road in Willshire Oh is now called Al-Saudi Plastic, a Manufacturing Plant. Hal Rogers is no longer running the farm, it has been reported that Hal Rogers is retired. In an interview Hal Rogers talked about how being busy on the farm helped. Rogers said, Life was PURE HELL. I was just trying to get through day by day, cause I was just trying to survive. It’s all I was trying to do was SURVIVE. That just kept the mind occupied. Then you can let a little bit of it creep in when you want …and if you didn’t like it…you got busy again, so you kicked that out of your memory. Hal Rogers continued, if one day is too much, you go down to an hour. If an hour is too much, go to five minutes, If thats too much, do something stupid….clean something, make that a minute, there you accomplished something! Now we can do 2 minutes and you go from there. Hal added, I was just doing what I did to make sure I kept sanity cause I could see how easy it is to step over that line and I realize, once you step over it, it’s pure hell to get back. In Tom French’s Book, Angels and Demons Hal’s love ones’ funeral was closed caskets, he never physically saw his family, Hal said, he took the word of the authorizes. So one night feeling in a bad way, Hal grabbed a shovel and drove out to the grave site and thought about doing the unthinkable. Hal never did the unthinkable but said all the nights were hard, but that night was a long night.
