Often called the 'maltese cross crystal' there are many tales and legends surrounding there origin. We find some staurolites near Mt Isa. Coober Pedy is an opal mining town where the inhabitants work underground and also make their homes underground in a bid to escape the fierce heat of the Australian outback. The Gippsland Lakes area in Victoria is scenic family friendly holiday area. Ideal for boating, fishing and watching the local wildlife.
