Microsoft | Evolving the Kubernetes User Experience: More Intuitive, More Extensible, More Agentic
Andrew Randall, Principal PM in the Office of the CPO at Microsoft, and Pal Lakatos-Toth, Senior Product Manager at Microsoft, joined us at the Cloud Native & Open Source AI Conference in London to explore the evolving Kubernetes user experience in the age of AI. In this opening keynote, “Evolving the Kubernetes User Experience: More Intuitive, More Extensible, More Agentic,” Andrew and Pal examine how Kubernetes is changing as it becomes the default platform for modern workloads, including increasingly complex AI systems. As AI agents begin to operate across infrastructure, platforms, and engineering workflows, Kubernetes now needs to serve two very different audiences: humans learning and managing the platform, and agents interacting with it programmatically. Grounded in a real example of deploying an agent-based system on Kubernetes, this session explores what the future of Kubernetes UX means for usability, extensibility, governance, and production readiness. Whether you are a platform engineer, cloud native practitioner, architect, engineering leader, or someone exploring how AI will reshape infrastructure operations, this talk offers a practical look at where Kubernetes is heading next. About the speakers Andrew Randall is Principal PM in the Office of the Chief Product Officer at Microsoft, where he works across Azure to help shape the next generation of AI-enabled cloud native platforms. Andrew joined Microsoft through the acquisition of Kinvolk, a Berlin-based open source company, where he led business strategy for projects including Flatcar Container Linux, Inspektor Gadget, and Headlamp. He previously co-founded Tigera and Project Calico, one of the early foundational technologies in Kubernetes networking and security, and remains active across the cloud native ecosystem. Pal Lakatos-Toth is a Senior Product Manager at Microsoft, working across cloud native, developer, and platform experiences. About the conference The Cloud Native & Open Source AI Conference is Community Stack’s London conference for engineers, architects, platform leaders, AI practitioners, and technology leaders working at the intersection of cloud native infrastructure, open source AI, and production-scale systems. Hosted with BrainStation in London as part of London Tech Week, the conference brought together practitioners building real systems across Kubernetes, open source LLMs, AI platforms, agentic workflows, developer experience, governance, security, and production operations. No vendor roadmaps. No theoretical future-gazing. Just practitioners sharing what actually works.
