Ekongkaar - Heartflow [Official Music Video]

For me, life can be like this dry lake bed; there’s a feeling of isolation, and desolation, yet, when I go within and chant I find an eternal well of peace and nourishment that is essentially my Heartflow. This video is so profound to me, because it truly tells this story of how I experience life and the transformational power of mantra. I worked with an incredible video artist, Ron Hamad, who seemed to see my soul’s story like no other I’ve known, and this is how it unfolds in words. I invite you to read these words and then watch the video, and see perhaps if you find connection in your own soul story. The dry lake bed initially puts me into a state of panic. No sign of life or water. My mind wonders how I will find anything of value here. I take a deep breath and instead of being only caught in the chatter of the mind, I see the mind, like a tumbling weed in the wind and how frantically it is trying to reach Source and Center to find its nourishment. This witnessing is powerful, and from here I know that it is only through the steady repetition of mantra with each and every breath and step that I take that the mind will find its peace. And so the journey begins, slowly walking on this dry lake bed, where there is seemingly nothing. Through the mantra I find the connection to the very world that seemed so desolate just moments ago. The wind, the sky, and the earth become my friends. I learn that I can write God’s Name on the earth, as I do within my own heart. It all becomes so profound in the blue expansive sky, and I begin to dance in exaltation and joy. The very wind that tumbled me like a lost weed just moments ago is showing me how to dance. And then this is when I realize the Heartflow space, which has been with me and will be with me for eternity. But, like a lost lover, I am only discovering it for the first time, and forlorn as I am, it takes me into its embrace. Then I am shown deeper into my heart and I find the mantra there resonating, my anchor, my love, my grace. Realizing how held in love I am, I can only bow in reverence to the One, on this desert bed, cold earth now as the sun is setting, yet I have never been so warm and satisfied even as my body shivers in the completion of this, my soul’s story.
