Meet The Maker - Melanie Muir
Melanie is from Nairn, a Victorian seaside town right on the Moray Firth in the Highlands. She makes bold, contemporary jewellery in polymer, inspired by the organic patterns, textures and colours she sees in the natural landscape around her. Her techniques are inspired by the Japanese metalworking process called 'mokume gane', where many thin layers of material are built up, then shaved away to reveal the patterns below.
