Originally named Berwick-Upon-Tweed Golf Club in 1890 on links land named GOSWICK by the Romans. Now known as Goswick Golf Club which is only six miles from the border town of Berwick. On a clear day views stretch across the North Sea to Holy Island & south to Bamburgh Castle. The original course was laid out by Willie Park Junior (1903) reshaped by legendary course architect James Braid (1930) & most recently in 1964 by F.W Hawtree. The Goswick Links is reached by a long winding road off the A1 & crosses the main railway line. The course is an Open qualifying venue with the front 9 heading North & the back 9 South & both provide a Varied test of Golf & change in terrain. The whole condition of the course is excellent, Greens are pure without being overly fast & the riveted bunkers are very well maintained. Variable winds off the east coast make shot selection a real challenge, downwind a wedge can go 200 yards or only 50 yards if against. If you are heading up to Northumberland or passing through on your way to Scotland, Goswick Links is well worth experiencing.
