To kick things off, I catch a local bus to head into town from my hotel. As I hop on the back and hang off the side, I notice the bus is blasting music and decked out in colorful, quirky decorations... definitely an experience in itself. Since it’s Friday morning, the streets are a bit quieter as the city pauses for prayer at noon. I stroll through the market, pick up some fabric to have a traditional shalwar kameez made, and grab a delicious banana and date milkshake to refuel. After chatting with a few people, I find a tailor who agrees to turn my fabric into something truly local. Feeling a bit hungry, I head to the best spot in town to try nihari, a rich and flavorful beef stew that’s a must-try dish. To cap off the day, I chat with some friendly locals before indulging in a refreshing mango ice cream. This is just the beginning.
