Sprinkle with a little salt. Add 2 Tablespoons of oil (not included) to a frying pan and cook the onion, salted side down, over medium heat for 4 minutes. Heat over medium heat until boiling, then reduce to low and simmer, stirring, for 2-3 minutes until thickened. Allow to cool.
