She announced that she will not be aiming for the Los Angeles Olympics and will be retiring from competitive judo. She considers not aiming for the Olympics to be her retirement, and stated that she will continue to promote judo and engage in activities on her already popular YouTube channel and other media. While at Tokyo Gakugei University, Tsunoda competed in the 52kg class, but after switching to the 48kg class, she showed even more remarkable success, winning three consecutive World Championships from 2021 to 2023 and winning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
