SENSIBLE. ¿Resiliencia individual o sensibilidad social? Svenja Flasspöhler.

A review of the book SENSIBLE, subtitled "On Modern Sensitivity and the Limits of Tolerance," written by German philosopher Svenja Flasspohler, published in its original language in 2021 and in Spanish in 2023 by Editorial Herder. Are sensations purely personal matters? When does contact begin to become uncomfortable? How close is proximity pleasurable? Where is the limit of what is permissible to say? Should we eliminate the generic masculine? Does being a victim bring you closer to the truth than not being one? Is vulnerability a new strength? The hypothesis Flasspohler works with is the question of whether the individual is the one who has to work on themselves to become more resilient—the so-called resilience—or whether, on the contrary, it is rather the world around them that needs to change to keep up with society's progressive awareness. In other words, is individual evolution or a social revolution needed?
