ABANDONED on MARS - What happened to the Opportunity rover? Opportunity, also known as MER-B, was a NASA exploration rover launched in 2003 towards Mars with a single objective: to discover if the red planet ever harbored water in the past. Its mission was programmed to last a maximum of 90 Martian days. However, Opportunity operated for 15 years! Facing dust storms, dangerous terrain, extreme cold, and unknown craters, it completely rewrote what we knew about Mars. But one day, a global dust storm caught it... the sky darkened... and we never heard from Opportunity again. But what happened to it after that? And how is it today?
