But this isn't just a city tour… It's a journey into the painful past, resistance, and human stories of this land. Our first stop is Seodaemun Prison, where thousands of Koreans were imprisoned during the Japanese occupation for their freedom. This structure, now open to visitors as a museum, stands as a silent witness to the Korean people's struggle for independence. Here, you'll feel the traces of the past and the price of resistance. Then, we head to the National Museum of Korea, which houses the country's history and cultural heritage. Among thousands of years of artifacts, you'll see the identity, rebirth, and cultural richness of a nation. But the most profound story in this episode comes from the Korean War… In the 1950s, Turkey sent troops to Korea under the leadership of the United Nations. A Turkish non-commissioned officer serving in that war, Süleyman Dilbirliği, came across a little girl among the ruins. He named this child, who had lost her family, "Ayla," and protected her throughout the war. When the war ended, Süleyman wanted to take Ayla back to Turkey, but the circumstances of the time prevented this. Ayla was placed in the Ankara Orphanage, established with the support of Turkish soldiers, and grew up there. Throughout the decades, neither of them ever forgot each other. And years later, in Ankara Park in Seoul, they met again after 60 years. That moment was a moment when not only the hearts of a father and daughter but also the hearts of two nations united. In this episode, I touch upon South Korea's past and trace that human story.
