The State Holding Company for Industrial Participations, known as SEPI, manages an annual budget of between 250 and 300 million euros, but controls a colossal sum of almost 20 billion euros in assets distributed across numerous large companies. The program "El Programa de Cuesta" has detailed how this mammoth public body has served to house and facilitate alleged corruption and cronyism schemes directly linked to the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party). The State's ability to infiltrate the boards of directors of these companies distorts the rules of the free market, allowing the Socialist government to arbitrarily direct enormous economic resources toward networks of political and personal interest. During the broadcast, the workings of the self-styled Hirurok group – "the three of us" in Basque – are detailed. This group is comprised of Vicente Fernández Guerrero, former president of SEPI, removed from his post due to a legal indictment; Leire Díez, a recurring figure in the party's dirty tricks; and Antxon Alonso, Santos Cerdán's business partner in several ventures. This powerful trio allegedly controlled and rigged public contracts by leveraging SEPI's influence on the boards of directors of its subsidiaries. Thus, whenever the agency came to the rescue of a struggling company, the network used the opportunity to place loyal executives in positions of power and force contracts to be awarded to friendly companies like Servinabar, consolidating an intolerable network of influence peddling that damages the credibility of our institutions. One of the most notorious scandals exposed is the bailout of the airline Plus Ultra, a company with structural losses prior to the pandemic and closely linked to the Chavista dictatorship. Despite failing to meet the minimum viability requirements, the Ministry of Finance, then headed by María Jesús Montero, approved a multi-million euro injection of public funds, citing the company's supposed strategic importance.
