Charcoal & Orange Peel Soap

This is a charcoal and orange peel soap with a circular citrus centre wrapped in deep charcoal. The orange peel powder adds a lovely natural scrub, giving the bar a refreshing, exfoliating feel. **Soap Maker’s Note: This recipe uses water discount, which can make soap trace and thicken faster, helps it harden more quickly, and reduces curing time- but it also leaves less time for swirls and may cause the batter to seize. In this recipe, I have used a good amount of soft oils such as olive oil, along with a high percentage of coconut oil. I intentionally kept the superfat at 0%, particularly because of the humidity in the area where I live, to help avoid DOS (Dreaded Orange Spots). But, if you feel that a high coconut oil content without superfat might be drying for your skin, you can increase the superfat to suit your preference. 👉 It is recommended to always run your formula through a soap calculator (such as SoapCalc) to adjust the correct water and lye weight for your oils.
