His father, Antonio, was an amateur guitarist. Times were tough, and the family wasn't very well off. So Antonio said, "Since we can't give him an education, I'm going to teach him what I know, which is how to play the guitar." And, foolishly, foolishly, Paco became one of the greatest geniuses in the history of music. We owe it to Paco that flamenco is known all over the world. But also the flamenco cajón, which before it was flamenco was the Peruvian cajón! When Paco saw a guy playing a cajón at a recital, he said, "This is what flamenco needs!" Within six months of presenting it, there wasn't a single flamenco that didn't have its little box. A revolution!
