Elecnor Australia, established in 2014, focus on the Power Infrastructure and Renewable energy markets in Australia and the APAC region as a major Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor. Elecnor has been contracted to build EnergyConnect, a new 700km transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga NSW to the South Australian border. This backbone infrastructure will connect customers with more renewable energy enabling a further 4950MW of generation capacity, save NSW customers $180 million a year and create 1,500 new construction jobs in regional NSW. Construction of EnergyConnect is underway in various locations across the project area. Elecnor’s scope includes: The construction of two new 330kV transmission lines and one new 500kV transmission line. A rebuild of an existing 220kV transmission line. An expansion and upgrade of the existing Buronga substation- A new substation known as Dinawan, located between Jerilderie and Coleambally. An expansion of the existing Wagga Wagga substation. EnergyConnect, once completed, will be Australia’s largest interconnector in the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM).
