I share with you this video of my sight fishing for Ito at Forest Park Hirakawa and Yuland Shimizu-gawa northern Japan. It is rare to have a chance to fight with a biting Ito, but when you encounter them, how do you fish? I have compiled some rules of thumb, mainly on hooking, based on several Ito fishing, which I hope will be helpful. Please note that all of the Ito in the video were released after proper resuscitation (aeration). Ito are slow-growing and are a treasure for fishing ponds. At release-only fishing grounds, we would like to let them go after they have recovered from the fatigue of the fight.
