On Tuesday 26th July, Jonathan Edwards and Lauren Kreamer hosted Junior Programme: Litigation webinar on 'The Strategy of Settlement Offers' and 'Top tips for dealing with litigants in person'. The Strategy of Settlement Offers Jonathan Edwards will discuss what litigators and their clients should think about when deciding whether to make an offer to settle a dispute, when to make it, and on what terms. This talk will focus particularly on the strategy for Part 36 offers and how to avoid making an offer that is invalid or is no use after trial Top tips for dealing with litigants in person As litigation costs continue to increase, litigators are seeing an increase in litigants in person in the civil courts. Lauren Kreamer will discuss the issues that typically arise when dealing with litigants in person, the obligations imposed on lawyers acting on the other side, the approach of the courts, and some top tips for dealing with the challenges of litigating against litigants in person. Junior Programme events are aimed at recently qualified lawyers and consist of an hour long webinar covering topical issues such as recent case law.
