Drunken Sailor - Live Fiddle | Katy Adelson

Here is a video of me playing my arrangement of the sea shanty, "Drunken Sailor" live for a music gig I had this summer! I've been getting more and more comments from people asking if I could post more "live playing" videos, so here is one! I hope that you like it! If this video seems to go over okay, I'll try to balance out posting music videos with more live-playing videos. Making simpler videos like this is a whole lot easier, that's for sure! Hopefully it'll allow me to post more often. =) In the summer of 2018, I was asked to play at the Thursday Market in Acacia Park, Colorado Springs, several times. This year, in 2019, the market was on Sunday, and they asked me to come back and play music again! It was a lot of fun, but tended to be scheduled very last minute. There aren't very many places that let me play my music with all of my backing tracks, so it was really nice to practice through everything. I've noticed that, for me, the most difficult part of playing live music is that I only have one chance to play through a song before I need to jump directly into the next song. I think I need to practice playing through a set without stopping just as much as I practice playing through tricky passages within the individual songs. There's something really difficult about trying to play a song as perfectly as possible only to quickly move onto the next song without stopping to fix anything. I really admire musicians who can do that so effortlessly. It's Thanksgiving time for Americans! We're already almost into December! It's so crazy! This year has flown by so quickly; I can't believe 2020 is right around the corner. So much has happened, and so much has changed. I'm excited for the holidays coming up!
