Maailm ja mõnda: Jaan Einasto at TEDxTallinn

Jaan Einasto uurimisobjektiks on astrofüüsikuna maailm tervikuna ning eesmärgiks aidata inimkonnal seda paremini mõista, et me oskaks käituda neist teadmistest lähtuvalt. Aastatepikkuse järjepideva töö tulemusel on Jaan Einasto mitmete oluliste küsimuste ja vastustega laiendanud inimkonna arusaamist galaktikate ning universumi struktuuri ja tekke kohta -- ta on sõna otseses mõttes avardanud meie maailmapilti. Tartu Observatooriumi kauaaegset teadlast akadeemik Einastot on tunnustatud muu hulgas Riigivapi II klassi teenetemärgiga, Marcel Grossmanni nimelise auhinnaga tumeaine ja universumi ehituse uuringute eest ning Viktor Ambartsumjani nimelise rahvusvahelise auhinnaga astronoomia ja astrofüüsika silmapaistvatele tippteadlastele. Ta on Tartu Ülikooli audoktor, Eesti Teaduste Akadeemia ja Academia Europeae liige. Tema auks anti väikeplaneedile nimi "11577 Einasto". UURI LISAKS www.akadeemia.ee/et/liikmeskond/_liikmed/einasto/ Jaan Einasto is an eminent Estonian astrophysicist whose object of study is the Universe as a whole. His mission is to help mankind improve its understand of the universe so that we may act and react accordingly. After years of consistent work on many important questions, Jaan Einasto has expanded our understanding about the origin and structure of galaxies and the Universe, literally broadening our perception about the world. As a longtime scientist at Tartu Observatory, Einasto has been awarded with many important prizes, among others: the 2nd class Order of the National Coat of Arms of Estonia, the Marel Grossmann award for studying dark matter and the structure of the universe, and the Viktor Ambartsumian International Prize for outstanding scientists in the field of astronomy and astropyhsics. He is an Honorary Doctor of the University of Tartu and a member of Estonian Academy of Sciences and Academia Europaea. To top all honours, a minor planet „11577 Einasto" has been named after him. MORE INFORMATION http://www.akadeemia.ee/en/membership... In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
