Shearing texel lambs in Sweden

Texel is a good breed to work with. The lambs are a very good size and are nice and round. No bones to catch you comb on. Their drawback is the fact that they can be quite jumpy, and you really have to be careful with control during shearing. Furthermore they have very tight wool (similar to a Suffolk) which can contain quite a bit of lanolin. I had run out of long bevel combs so I was forced to shear with a short one (394). The sad thing about shearing in Sweden is just how little knowledge of wool exist, given how most farmer's income comes from the sale of meat. In this case the farmer will maybe get 10 sek/kg for good quality lamb wool. The World is really a strange place!
