The A6 is a refreshing change to the masses of electric SUVs, although it is slightly less practical, the A6 drives better and more efficiently too, being capable of over 440 miles (WLTP) on selected configurations. In my review I tested the top of the range First Edition 1, featuring the 21” gloss black alloys as well as the ‘Sound & Vision Pack Pro’ costing a hefty £5,495, but including plenty of equipment such as the changeable opacity sunroof, Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with headrest speakers, digital door mirrors, augmented reality head-up display & interactive interior lighting. The powertrain tested was the ‘Performance’ model meaning it features the larger 94.9kWh usable battery & up to 380PS when using full power. This model was RWD but a Quattro model is also available, 0-62 takes a claimed 5.4 seconds in the car I tested; offering plenty of power for overtaking and allowing for an engaging but not terrifying driving experience! The interior is in-line with Audi’s new range of vehicles including the Q6, A5 & upcoming Q5. This means a setup with a standard 14.5” infotainment display, 11.9” digital dials and optional 10.9” passenger display (as standard on Edition 1 models). Slim, yet comfortable sports seats make long journeys comfortable & keep the cabin looking stylish and modern. Pricing for the A6 e-tron Avant starts at just over £65,000 for the Sport model with the 83kWh battery, trims, powertrains & the option packs all add up meaning the model tested was around £87,000. Monthly payments/leasing will be the important figures, and if you can charge at home you could have big fuel savings.
