She claimed that she has to look after her elderly parents and her mother, who is a cancer patient, which leads to high medical and household expenses. The Hon’ble Justice questioned whether her husband had been supporting her parents when they were living together, and stated that if he had not, then he cannot be held responsible for their care now. It was also noted that the husband had attempted to settle the matter after the wife filed a case under Section 498A against him, offering ₹10 lakhs as a one-time settlement. However, the wife demanded ₹60 lakhs instead. The Hon’ble Justice directed both the husband and wife to submit their latest salary documents.
